COVID-19 Prevention Measures
Our students' health and safety is of utmost importance to us. As such we have endeavoured to implement strict hygiene (and social distancing) practices to ensure that our students and staff remain healthy during these uncertain times.
In addition to sanitising the school daily, we have also implemented careful screening procedures that each child, staff member or individual (parent) that wishes to enter the school building must undertake.
Morning Screening Routine:
NO MASK, NO ADMITTANCE. This is for the safety of your child as well as the safety of everybody around them.
Parents (or drivers) must wait until after screening, to ensure that their child is deemed fit to attend before leaving.
Parents or drivers shall remain in their vehicles during this process, and will be asked if their child has been symptomatic (fever, dry cough, runny nose, diarrhoea).
Any student who is symptomatic or who is suspected to be symptomatic must go home immediately, and will be allowed to return only once the school has been presented with a doctor's note declaring them fit to do so.
For children using taxi services: Please ensure that you and the driver have discussed where your child should be driven to should they not be admitted to enter CREST due to being symptomatic.
During the screening process, children will be asked to stand in lines on social distancing markers. The screening team will then guide them through the screening process.
1. Children will spray their hands clean using hand sanitiser.
2. Their temperature shall be taken and should be below 37.5°C.
3. Once this is done and the child is accepted, the child will be asked to replace their mask with a new one.
4.Afterwards, children's shoes shall be sprayed down with disinfectant and the parents/drivers will be allowed to leave the car park.
Please be patient with us: Screening is a long and systematic process, we want to be thorough to ensure that all of our students remain healthy and Covid-19 free.
Foot-pumped Sanitiser stations are available for easy disinfection.
IF YOU OR YOUR CHILD COME INTO CONTACT WITH A PERSON WITH COVID, PLEASE NOTIFY US IMMEDIATELY, AND KEEP YOURSELVES ISOLATED FOR A MINIMUM OF 8 DAYS.
If your child develops symptoms during the course of the day, they will be taken to the designated quarantine area (our Wendy House). You will be notified immediately and asked to fetch your child. They will be allowed to return to the school only once a doctor's certificate has cleared them to do so.
At the end of the school day please collect your child in a timeous manner. Aftercare has been cancelled until the foreseeable future(due to Covid safety measures), and children are bound to be anxious with all the new rules and regulations.
Practising Safe- Social Distancing
Parents are asked to supply the following:
3 fabric or disposable masks - to be washed in hot soapy water and returned the following day (if fabric).
1x small hand towel or face cloth - to be washed in hot soapy water and returned the next day.
1x 120ml Sanitizing Spray. Available from CREST for R35.(Dischem and Clicks sells them for R40).
Children will also be asked to wipe down their tables, shoes, stationery, face shields and personal belongings repeatedly throughout the day, as well as regularly washing their hands. These routines must become automatic and second nature.
Additional Safety Protocols:
Children and staff will be screened regularly each day.
No parents will be allowed in the classrooms.
No drop-in visitors will be allowed.
Visitors by appointment only and will be thoroughly screened before admittance.
We have a few additional rules for our students:
No sharing of food or drinks.
No touching, hugging, high fives or close proximity (students are asked to maintain social distancing at all times).
No vigorous exercise.
No mask, no school!
No sharing of equipment or stationery.
If you do have to cough, please cough into your elbow.
In addition, our school has decided to close the tuck shop until further notice.
We ask that you commit to helping us keep all of our students safe during these trying times.
